Do You Need to Install a New Furnace Before Winter?

Install Furnace To Save Money

Is your furnace ready to handle the upcoming winter in Arlington, TN? Once the weather becomes truly cold, not recognizing that your heating system is on the brink of collapse could cost you a lot. Here are a few signs that you probably need to install a new furnace before winter:

Frequent Breakdowns

How often do you find yourself calling on HVAC professionals to fix your furnace? If your furnace breaks down frequently, it may be cheaper to simply buy a new system. Winter weather will only worsen the burdens of a furnace malfunction.

While there’s no hard-and-fast rule about when breakdowns become too frequent to tolerate, we can make a few general remarks. If your furnace experiences a serious breakdown more often than every two or three years, it’s time to begin to think about replacing it. An appliance that requires repairs every few months isn’t worth keeping around.

Collapsing Efficiency

You should also pay attention to your furnace’s efficiency. The clearest indication of this is the cost of your heating bills.

If your bills begin creeping up, even though you’re using the same amount of gas or electricity, it means that efficiency is declining. When winter comes, this problem will only get worse if you don’t install a new furnace. Annual maintenance may allow your furnace to regain some of its efficiency, but it isn’t a cure-all.

Old Furnace

On average, a gas-powered furnace can remain useful for about 15 years, while an electric model may last for as many as 25. Once your system ages beyond its typical service life, it would be wise to replace it. Even if you don’t yet see any problems with it, they can appear quite suddenly and put old systems out of commission.

If your old furnace can’t endure the strain of another winter, we can help you get a new one. Call Landmark Heating & Air Conditioning for the highest-quality furnace installation services around Arlington, TN.
